About Rachel

Evidence-based, but never on autopilot.

Rachel Pendlebury is a Registered Psychologist with a particular interest in the treatment of eating disorders, and a longstanding commitment to reducing the stigma that surrounds body image and appearance.

She works with individuals across the lifespan — children, adolescents and adults — presenting with eating disorders, anxiety, depression, behavioural challenges, and the realities of being neurodivergent. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in empathy and collaboration: a safe space for clients to feel supported through what is rarely a linear journey.

Rachel draws from a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches including CBT, ACT and DBT, with specialist training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E) and Family Based Therapy (FBT).

The practice operates fully online via secure video, allowing clients from anywhere in Australia to access specialist psychology without geographic constraint.

Frequently asked

Practical questions.

If a question isn't covered here, the enquiry form is the fastest way to get a direct answer.

Is a referral required to book?

No referral is required to book. A referral is only needed to access Medicare rebates — specifically, a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) from your GP. For eating disorders, an Eating Disorder Management Plan (EDMP) provides access to a larger number of rebated sessions per calendar year.

Can Medicare be claimed on an assessment?

Currently, Medicare rebates psychiatrist-led ADHD and Autism assessments, not psychologist-led assessments. Some sessions within an assessment may be partially rebated under a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Each client's specific situation is discussed transparently before booking.

Is the practice fully telehealth?

Yes. Every session, assessment included, is delivered via secure video. Cognitive testing uses Pearson Q-global — the publisher-approved digital administration platform for WAIS-IV and WISC-V — which maintains the same psychometric standards as in-person administration.

What age groups are seen?

Children, adolescents and adults. Family Based Therapy is offered for adolescents with eating disorders. Cognitive assessments use age-appropriate tools (WISC-V for children, WAIS-IV for adults).

Can the autism report be used for NDIS?

Yes — assessment reports are written to support NDIS access requests where a diagnosis is confirmed. A dedicated NDIS supporting-evidence letter addressing the six functional domains is available as an add-on.

What is the cancellation policy?

48 hours notice is required. Sessions cancelled within that window are charged at 50%; no-shows are charged in full.

Are new clients being accepted?

Yes. Currently accepting new clients for therapy, eating disorder treatment, and ADHD / Autism / cognitive assessment. Enquiries are responded to within one business day.
